Is My Sewer Line Suffering?
When you hear the word “plumbing,” your mind likely goes to the faucets and fixtures that provide water to your home. Or perhaps you think about the drains that take the wastewater out of your home once you’re done with it. This is natural, however these are components that you can actually see and which you have some direct interaction with—whereas there’s one component you don’t think much about until something goes wrong—your sewer line.
While out of sight, this plumbing system component shouldn’t be too far out of mind. If any problems occur within your sewer line, then you will be facing a serious inconvenience, and possibly a big mess. Early detection of such a problem is a huge advantage, so it’s important to be aware of some warning signs that something is amiss, and you’re in need of Idaho Falls, ID drain and sewer services.
For anyone who can smell, this is going to be the most obvious sign of trouble with your sewer line. Sewer odors are very apparent, and if they are coming from your plumbing fixtures, then it’s absolutely time to have a professional plumber evaluate the situation. You might be dealing with a singular drain blockage, but it could be a blocked or leaking sewer line causes the issue—particularly if you detect that smell outside in your yard, too.
Backed Up Drains
Do you have any slow-moving or backed up drains in your home? If it’s just one drain, it’s very well likely that there’s hair (bathroom drain) or food (kitchen drain) to blame. However, if the issue doesn’t appear to be localized to a specific area, you might have problems with your sewer line. It may have collapsed or been infiltrated by tree roots, for example.
Soggy or Bright Green Patches of Grass
Is there an area of your yard that is soggy, but all your sprinkler heads are working just fine? Or perhaps there’s an area of your yard that is greener than others. You may have a leak in your sewer line that is essentially fertilizing that particular area. Our professional plumbers can determine whether or not this is the case.
What Causes Sewer Line Problems?
Sewer line issues are understandably frustrating. Especially since there are no moving parts to worry about. Despite this, however, there are a few scenarios in which a sewer line might be compromised.
For instance, tree roots might have made their way into you piping. Roots seek out water sources wherever they can find them, and are very determined to do so. Or you might have very old pipes composed of galvanized steel, which have corroded. Even nearby construction can cause a decrease in the integrity of your sewer line. Whatever is to blame, you can rely on our staff to get your sewer line back in top shape as soon as possible.
